Under current law, men between 18 and 25 must register for the draft. If a draft were implemented, some of them would be drafted and put into combat situations. Forty-four percent (44%) of voters believe the law should be changed so women must also register for the draft.
A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 35% disagree and 21% are not sure.
By a 2-to-1 margin, Democrats believe women should be eligible for the draft. Republicans and Independents are evenly divided.
If it is someday needed, just 13% believe the president should have the authority to implement a draft on his own. Seventy-seven percent (77%) believe the president be required to get approval from Congress.

Methodology
The survey of 1,200 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 22-23, 2021. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of Registered Voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
