Voters Expected Trump to Declare National Emergency, Just 36% Want Him To

Politico reports that President Trump’s decision to declare a national emergency “caught most on Capitol Hill by surprise.”

However, this move is exactly what voters expected. Polling conducted last week found that 77% believed it was likely that President Trump would declare an emergency and use existing funds to build the wall. However, while that what they expected, it’s not what they want to happen.

Just 36% believe the president should declare such a national emergency.
