Current Senate Scoreboard
Bottom Line

This race represents a rare opportunity for Democrats to pick up a Senate seat from the GOP. It also represents a battleground in the Republican civil war. Senator Jeff Flake’s confrontations with President Trump made it impossible for him to be re-elected. Now, the GOP prospects are likely to hinge on who wins the Republican primary in August. Congresswoman Martha McSally has entered the race and on paper looks like the strongest potential candidate. The former fighter pilot bills herself as a fighter like Donald Trump, but some view her as an establishment candidate. Two other candidates in the race—Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former state senator Kelli Ward—have strong followings among the Republican base.
