Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has an op-ed in USA Today suggesting that “A third-party centrist candidate like me could win the presidency in 2020.”
However, just 36% of voters believe America would be even somewhat better off with a major third party. Sixteen percent (16%) believe it would make things worse. Even among Independent voters, just 44% think a third-party would make things better.
To be clear, these surveys asked about a major third-party rather than about a presidential campaign. Such a presidential campaign might be viewed more as an independent effort rather than the creation of a new party.
ScottRasmussen.com will explore the idea of a third party presidential bid in the coming days.
