Current House Scoreboard
Bottom Line

Republican Dave Reichert was first elected to represent this District in 2004. He was re-elected handily in 2016, but has chosen to retire rather than seek re-election.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has understandably targeted this race as a top-tier opportunity. Hillary Clinton carried the District in the presidential race by a 48% to 45% margin. District’s voters also preferred Barack Obama over Republican candidates in both 2008 and 2012.

However, a field of relatively unknown Democrats will also face some challenges in their effort to defeat Republican Dino Rossi. Rossi has lost statewide campaigns for Governor and Senator, but in both races he handily carried this district. Still, the GOP hopeful must be concerned about the strong Democratic turnout during the jungle primary.
