Thirty-nine percent (39%) of American adults have a close friend or family member who runs a small business. A Job Creators Network/ ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that 47% of men know small business owners along with 31% of women. Younger adults are more likely than their elders to know small business owners (see question wording and crosstab results).
Sixty-one percent (61%) have shopped at a small business within the last 30 days.
Only 37% know that today is Small Business Saturday. Thirty-three percent (33%) had no idea which day this week was set aside to celebrate small businesses and 30% guessed the wrong day. But, 42% say they’ll make an effort to shop at a small business that day.
Data released earlier showed that 86% of adults believe it’s important to support small businesses in their community. That includes 37% who say it’s Very Important.
